We are excited to announce a significant milestone in our journey toward transforming the automotive industry: the unveiling of our first Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Platform blueprint. This blueprint is a foundational part of our vision for an Open Source SDV platform, aiming to accelerate innovation and collaboration in the automotive sector.
Pioneering the Future with Open Source
Our commitment to open source stems from a belief that collaboration drives progress. By leveraging and contributing to open-source software, we are fostering a community where ideas can flourish, and solutions can be developed more efficiently. This approach not only accelerates our development but also ensures transparency, flexibility, and scalability in our platform.
Introducing Our Fleet Management Platform Blueprint

Vehicle Services
- Signal Generator: Tool that simulates vehicle signals for testing and development
- Vehicle Dashboard UI: A user-friendly interface providing real-time visualization of vehicle data, enhancing user interaction and monitoring capabilities
- Digital Twin Service: Ensure seamless and secure data exchange between the vehicle systems and cloud services.
- CAN Gateway: Provide a communication gateway with CAN bus
Cloud Services
- Simulation Service: Utilizes the CARLA Simulator, an open-source platform, to create virtual vehicles that feed data into our system, allowing extensive testing in a controlled environment.
- Vehicle Gateway: Acts as a secure entry point for both real and simulated vehicles to connect with our cloud infrastructure.
- Digital Twin Service: Manages the Digital Twin on the backend, synchronizing data between the physical vehicle and its virtual counterpart.
- Fleet Management Backend: Manages fleet operations, including vehicle provisioning, data management, and workflow automation.
- Fleet Management UI: Offers fleet operators an intuitive interface to oversee operations, monitor vehicle status, and optimize fleet performance.
Open Sourcing Our Services
In alignment with our open-source philosophy, we're proud to announce that several components of our platform are now available on GitHub:
- Embedded Signal Generator Repository
- Vehicle Dashboard Repository
- Simulation Service with CARLA Simulator Repository
We invite the developer community to explore our repositories, contribute to the projects, and collaborate with us to enhance and expand the platform.
Showcased at ELIV Congress
Our participation in the ELIV Congress marked the first public unveiling of our SDV Platform blueprint. The positive reception and valuable feedback from industry leaders and peers have been immensely encouraging. It reinforced our belief that an open-source SDV platform can significantly impact the future of automotive technology.
Open Source Technologies We Employed
Our platform is built upon several key open-source projects:
- COVESA Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS): We adopted the VSS standard from the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA) to define a common data model for vehicle signals, promoting interoperability and simplifying data management across different vehicle systems.
- Zenoh: For efficient and scalable data distribution, we utilized Zenoh, an open-source protocol that unifies data in motion, data at rest, and computations, providing low-latency and high-throughput communication between our services.
- InfluxDB: We used InfluxDB, an open-source time-series database, to store and analyze time-stamped vehicle data, enabling real-time monitoring and analytics.
- MongoDB: Our platform uses MongoDB, a flexible, document-oriented database, to manage various types of data across our services, supporting scalability and performance.
- OpenStreetMap: We integrated OpenStreetMap to provide detailed and up-to-date mapping data for our simulation environments and fleet management interfaces.
The Road Ahead
This is just the beginning. Our vision is to create a fully open-source SDV platform that empowers developers, automotive companies, and tech enthusiasts to innovate without limitations. Upcoming developments include:
- Enhancing Platform Features: Adding more functionalities and improving existing ones based on community feedback.
- Expanding Open Source Contributions: Continuously open-sourcing more components of our platform.
- Fostering Community Collaboration: Hosting workshops, webinars, and forums to engage with the community.
